SEVEN months!

Well, it has been seven months since Emily made her splash into this world. We decided to weigh her and she is somewhere just under ten pounds right now. She gains weight slowly for a lot of reasons but mostly because of her chronic lung disease...she just uses more calories than the rest of us to breathe and function.

Other than all of her eating problems, she is a very good baby. She is very content to be on her own on the ground, playing with her toys. The eating is still a cause for concern as she is very inconsistent. For example, we are in the midst of a three day stretch where she just won't eat. We force an ounce or two down her while she cries about it and I worry too much about her not gaining weight and heading back to the hospital. We are trying to get her back to eating by feeding her breast milk only but we can't do it for long as she needs the extra calories from the additives (including formula) that we normally add to her milk.

Visually, we know she sees light...and even tracks it, but we still have not seen her focus in on an object or follow one. She LOVES to be interacted with and coos and smiles and gurgles whenever you stick your face in her space. She grabs anything in arms reach and brings her hands together in front of her (it looks like she is studying them). Oh, and she sucks her thumb every chance she gets.

Em in the mixing bowl is just too cute! And such a great shot of mommy and big sister weighing in on the issue. So glad that you are able to spend time with family up north, B!
