Hanauma Bay and Boat Rental

On our first sunny day after the rains, we went to Hanauma Bay to do some snorkeling. Since snorkeling is in the water, we used my brother's gopro to get pics. The brown is the coral.  We saw a variety of bright, beautiful fish and even a turtle.

Em really wanted to snorkel but she can't see anything so it doesn't work real well.  :-)  I tried to rent goggles with prescriptions but they only had adult sizes.

K was just too scared.  She finally saw three fish and was so proud of herself but that was it for that day.

How K snorkels.

On another day, we took some kayaks out to some islands near the shore called the "Mokes".  It was quite cloudy as we headed out.  I was concerned but no one else seemed to be so I let it go.

The girls got to see a turtle swim right under their kayak.  They were thrilled to tell me all about it when we arrived at the island.

On the island we went for an exploratory walk.

Then the clouds got darker and closer.  The camera was put away, we huddled in groups behind towels and waited out the rain.  After two rounds of wind and rain, we headed out to beat the next wave coming in.  Mari slept through it all.

This is one of K's favortie activities so far.  K loved the boat, "except the part where the giant waves came into the boat".  :-)

The next day, we rented a big boat...one we could even eat on.

We went out to the sandbars in K-bay, they are known because at low tide, you can walk all over them. It is a very fun experience to be 'in the middle of the ocean' but standing on the sand less than knee deep.  Mari needed a float at the first place we stopped.

Then she got jealous of K's board...it had more color.  :-)

This was the weather in the morning.

Then those clouds formed.

Some of the nearby coral.

Going to so many places near military bases, we had several encounters with aircraft of all sorts.

This was funny.  We kept Mari caged in the pack-n-play while we all went back and forth from the boat to the water.

Everyone got a chance to "drive".

When the clouds rolled in, it got breezy and chilly.

See the rain coming?  So did we and we headed back for the evening in a cabin on base.

For a bonus, some panoramas from M's phone...

One of the falls we went to originally...

Well, many, many adventures have happened since I last wrote but I will catch up soon.  God Bless!
