My BIG Girl!

It has finally come. My oldest is a little girl. No longer a young child, she is almost a tween. Ahhhhh! As K turns eight and moves into the next stage of life, I am both excited to watch her grow and nervous about the changes the next phase will bring. Evidence of her growth came quickly as the day progressed. You see, she decided to forego a party and take the money to the mall on a shopping trip instead. Without me to say she didn't need it, she tried on shoe after shoe and eventually purchased two pairs of boots. She also bought a shiny vest and tights and a pair of workout tights with a matching sports bra. Not that she needs it but she thinks they 'look great together!' (insert bug-eyed emoji). I have a fashion conscious little girl who likes to shop. What even happened???

Well, she wanted a Coco (our black cat) ice cream cake...and yes, those are cheetah pjs.

And we spent the rest of the day shopping. I was too shocked and exhausted to take any more pictures.  :-)

On another note, we have been getting so much rain up here that the lake is getting too full and they have opened the river valves on the dam. It's a pretty neat sight, and with the six (and counting) more inches we have gotten this week, I am hoping they will need to open the spillway.

Just in case you had no clue how large the dam is, and thus how much water is cascading out those "little" holes, I took a picture from the dam. Those are very large valves and when we stood above them, it was so loud we had to yell to talk to each other. Imagine standing directly above a VERY large waterfall! The river trails downstream are flooded and besides being well past drought stage, we have standing water everywhere!

We even got snow one day! I love snow when I don't have to live in it! It makes everything beautiful and then disappears before it affects my daily life. Best case scenario. :-)

We took advantage of our driveway and used it as a sledding hill. Normally, we have to drive an hour or two to go sledding. This day, we drove no where and went sledding to our heart's content.

The girls kept slamming into the fence but it never did bother them. LOL.

Well, we are off to more of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. God Bless!!
