Last weekend, we took a trip up to the apple orchards with our friends...we arrived a little before they did so we decided to take a couple pics.
I thought I got this, you would not believe how bummed I was when I got home and saw it lost the focus on K! Oh well, even blurry it's cute.
Then we went for the little walk around the property. They have done such an amazing job and I love going up here for this very reason. (And to get apple cider and raw honey). :-)
How cute can they get?
The California poppies are out everywhere these days.
The girls made friends while we had our picnic. The little girl spoke broken English so they were having a hard time communicating. Later, though, as they all colored, the entire table broke out into song - yep, the "Frozen" songs - the universal language - Disney. It was sooo cute to hear them all singing together!
Our friends had to go home but with Dad gone and another beautiful day not to be wasted, we decided to walk around again. This time, however, K was determined to take notes in her notebook (which she had packed ahead of time into her backpack). If you listen to Jack and Annie's Adventures in the Magic Tree House, yes, that is where she got the idea. (Don't worry, we don't listen to all those stories, not at this age...just the good, not scary ones).
Em did pretty well not getting impatient...but then again, she was climbing all over the equipment while K wrote about it.
I was doing my best to goof around with Em without K getting too upset that we were having too much fun without her...she is holding her reigns, pretending to drive the horses.
They loved how soft the poppies are.
I figured out why Em's eyes are closed in most of our pictures...she intentionally closes them. When I ask her to look up, she closes her eyes and lifts her head up. When I asked her why she does this, she said she just doesn't want to open her eyes all the time. Guess I should have known that. I am sure this is her tactic when I send her to look for something as well!
We found loads of butterflies of many varieties, this was the only one that landed.
There was such an abundance of bees that the whole place had a buzz to it.
Ok, so at this point, waiting for K to take more notes about the bees, I took a video of them. Em spent the time waving the metal stick around like a wand, playing drums with it, sticking it in her shirt like a sword...you get it. So in my video K tells me about all the things she learned about on this hike and she is soooo excited but serious the entire time. Then I zoom over to ask Em what she is doing, and she has her shoe in one hand and the stick in the other and she is banging them together. Honestly, if you could have heard my spirit, it was laughing and loving every moment of this experience.
Have a WONDERFUL day! May God bless you!
