John Stuart Mill (Essay on Liberty)

‘The liberty of the individual must be thus far limited; he must not make himself a nuisance to other people.’

Pray for Emily

The inevitable has happened.  Emily has just suffered her first real fall and broke both bones in her right arm. I (M), am at home with K, while B is at the hospital with Cousin Kari and Emily.  They will sedate Emily, then set the bone, followed by a splint.  The cast will have to go on next week, after the swelling goes down.

This will be a new challenge, but with God's grace, we will get thru fine.  She is certainly a trooper.

We will update more tomorrow.  Right now, I'm waiting for Kari to come home and then I will head into the hospital to be with B and Em.

Port Hueneme

We spent the weekend with Mo and the boys. That really just means we took some cute pics of our kids. :-)

Y turned 8!!  We missed his birthday since we were on vacation, so none of those pics, but lots of the big boy anyway.

I can't believe they are moving to Hawaii!  I take that back...since they are going to move away from us, that is a given, I am very glad they are moving somewhere we will be motivated to go visit them.  When they brought up Mississippi, I offered to pay for their plane tickets to come our way.  :)

This was how K greeted her Aunt.  She was so excited!  "Auntie MoMo, look at my beautiful ring!"  True story.  Mo thought we had put K up to it but nope, that is just pure innocence.  So, of course, we had her repeat the events for the camera.

Ever seen Em without glasses on?

Mo took some pics too so I had to steal them.

Sad faces...

Mad faces...

Sammy might have the most annoying bark in the whole world, but he still gets credit as the dog who cured N of his fear of dogs.  Plus, he's turning out to be amazing with kids.

We went for a family run...never thought I would say that!!

Em is in to pushing all the limits and then finding new limits just to try to push them.  One of her things is to look down when you want to take a pic.  So when Mo asked her to look up for a pic, this is what she got.  Beautiful pic but still makes me crazy!  :-)

And to end this barrage of photographs, my two favorite girls in the whole world!!

God Bless!!  Please keep praying for Meretu, the baby girl my brother and Mo want to add to this family.  If the adoptions does not go through by the time they move to Hawaii this summer, they will have to start over with all the paperwork, but Meretu will not be given to another family; she will have to continue to live in the orphanage while they wait.  God has given her to us, please pray He will do it sooner rather than later!!

Gilman Ranch

Last Friday we went, ironically, to a museum precisely two miles from our house.  I have run by it a million times but never really been interested in going there and since the hours are pretty limited, never have. But my new neighbor suggested we go and boy was I pleasantly surprised!  I learned some interesting information about the history of the local area we live in...

...unfortunately some of the news was not so great!

The museum is full of old wagons of various kinds and...well, I am not sure...we had five kids with us...how much time do you really think I had to stand around and read the information?  The stuff I did learn was when a kind worker came and walked us around the grounds and told us what he knew...very fast...gotta love it when you get someone who has had kids recently and flies through stuff to keep them interested!

A pretty cool old phonograph.

This guy did not speak quickly...we almost lost the girls but they were good and patient and hung in there.

This is a wood burning stove!

The part of the ranch where the blacksmith worked...

I just liked this shot.

They even let us pick some oranges and lemons for the road.

The girls under the gazebo.  It was alternating between rain and just overcast all morning.

There are dozens of picnic tables, gold panning and even some wild west days coming up so I am sure we will be back for some visits in the future.

The ranch house...

Hope you are all having a wonderful day!  God Bless!!
