Light at the End of the Tunnel?

I think I may never take my camera in to the hospital again. The first time I left it at home was the day they removed her nasal canula. Today I left it behind and when I got there, that orange tube you see in her nose was GONE!! They are feeding her only by the bottle and have started what they call ad-lib feedings. They are still feeding her every three hours but only giving her as much as she wants to eat. They will watch to see how much she is getting and if she is still gaining weight. This is the last hurdle for her to come home. If she does well, they have said they could send her home near the end of next week. Did you catch that? They put an estimate on when my baby can come home!! :)

These were taken yesterday cause Grandma wanted some new photos...I will do a photo shoot after they have removed the tape (they leave it to save her skin in case they have to put the tube back in), and then it will have to wait until her face isn't quite so red from the adhesive (takes a day or two).

I was thinking today that it is funny cause every time something comes off her face, I am amazed at how complete she looks and I genuinely believe I have finally seen her whole face...sometime in the next couple of days, I REALLY will!

Well...

After a pretty discouraging week last week where Emily just wasn't making any progress with her eating and us trying (to no avail) to figure out which additive in her milk was giving her issues, suddenly in the last 24hrs, she has nippled all her food. Thank you for your prayers and pray she keeps this up and continues to get strong!

K's first boo boo

Sooooo, K was running around in the backyard and playing with me (dad). Because she still isn't the most coordinated individual, as she was racing down the concrete porch, she tripped herself with her own foot, think Charlie Chaplin (if she hadn't gotten hurt, it would have been quite comical). She took a nose dive onto the hard concrete floor (concrete-1, K-0). When she hit the ground, her tooth split her upper lip. A while later, after lots of screams and drama, we decided it was bathtime. You know, to ease the pain, since K was having none of the ice on the lip thing.

Well, K, you can now officially say you are our daughter. Welcome to the family of the most injury prone people alive (anyone that knows B and I well, knows this to be an undeniable fact)! I'm certain this won't be the last time you will fall and hurt yourself, but we will still always be there to pick you up, love on you and comfort you.

All cleaned up, just a swollen lip, and a cut on the inside. Her teeth are okay, her ego is bruised, but recovering, her smile...........priceless.

This last picture is how K likes to sleep at night. We used to try and change this behaviour, but learned after a week that this was a futile battle we weren't going to win. Now we think it is adorable. However, it does make it difficult to keep a blanket on her at night. K literally flops all over the crib at night. We find her at both ends of the crib, mulitple times throughout the night.

Sorry

Sorry I took so long...something about getting up at 2:45am to get April and Eric to the airport by 5am... :)...glad you guys came to visit, it was fun to see you again!

Emily's tests all came back negative, PTL, and they started feeding her last night. She has been doing well and they do not have her on HMF (human milk fortifier) in order to see if she was having a reaction to it. Thank you for your prayers.

Otherwise, all is well and we had a good weekend with April and Eric. Please pray for me as I am hitting new rounds of being sick and tired of going to the hospital. I just want to take care of my kid and not take four hours out of my day to hold her for an hour and a half. I'm tired of the drive and the rules and tired of the fact that the only thing I can do for my daughter is hold her once a day. Sorry, I'm just frustrated.

NPO...Again

I am glad we are back but unfortunately I have bad news. Emily is not eating again because she had blood in her stool again. Thankfully, they did all the blood tests and x-rays right away and they all came back negative, so they have not started her on antibiotics yet. They will rerun all her tests in the morning and if it all looks good, they will likely blame it on the extra protein they add to my breast milk and will try straight breast milk for a few days...I think. I am not really sure on the plan of action except that we are waiting for the tests tomorrow. Please pray it is not a big deal and she will get to start eating again.

hacked...not really

If some of you have been trying to get into our blog, you were probably routed somewhere else. I found a patch to fix it and you can read more about it below. This is a Vista/Windows compatibility problem with google's blogger. Apparently Vista did an update that may have screwed everything up.

Fixing The Blogger.com JS-error "Access Denied"
If you host your blog at blogspot, you are experiencing a javascript error "access denied" for the last 48 hours. Lots of people are reporting this bug, but it's still not fixed. A temporary fix is:

http://blog.jitbit.com/2010/02/fixing-bloggercom-js-error-access.html

Edit your template HTML and paste this code somewhere inside the tag.

UPD: Please note this fix does not "solve" the actual problem, it just hides the annoying error message. We still have to wait for Google to fix this.
