Sorry I haven't written, but we really don't know much yet. The dr (who apparently is world renowned preemie retinal specialist) did not get to see her last night so I am headed in at 5pm for the consult and consent. Unless the eye has changed, they are planning to inject a drug directly into her eye. The drug is one that is used in cancer patients to arrest blood vessel development. I will know more and fill you in after the consult. She is doing well after the transport and is satting well. She is out of the incubator and seems to be enjoying that as well.
Everyone keeps asking me how we are doing...well, honestly, we are doing well. We accepted the fact that our daughter would likely be blind about four days ago and so when they said this dr was here and could see Emily, it was as if suddenly she had a second chance. I don't know if God is going to use him to heal her eyes, but the 'risk' we are taking doesn't seem too high to us...she was going to go blind without his help and now she has an outside chance of not being blind. That just seems great to me. The transition to a new place is always tiring but Chuck and Penny have been great and it has really seemed seamless this time around. Plus, there are bonuses to a new place...they aren't as stringent on the rules here and Grandma got to see Em for the first time ever. She even heard her cry when they changed her diaper. Please pray for me as I fight a cold and try to stay away from my daughter while taking care of all this. Thank you and I will update tonight as soon as I can.

Go West....
We are headed to Pasadena. Emily was transported this morning and should be there by now. M's aunt and uncle live there so K and I will be staying with them and M will come in on the days he is not working. Let's hope this is not a long stay...I know our little girl has been quite resilient so far, but I don't want to reach the point where she has had enough. And me, I am tired of not really seeing my husband. I don't know any more about Emily's condition but I will let you know as soon as I hear.

Oh Crap!
Emily's right eye is worse. The dr thinks she is facing retinal detachment (blindness) if we don't attack it aggressively. They want to move Emily to a hospital in Pasadena or Long Beach where there is a retinal specialist (her dr is an neonatal eye specialist so apparently he is even more specialized)...and they may need to use a drug that is approved for adults but that there is little data on for infants. I know this is very fast but her problem is very aggressive and they are trying to save her sight. She may be moved as early as tomorrow or sometime this weekend.
Please pray for us as we make decisions about things we know nothing about yet will deeply impact the future of our daughter. At this point, we need to trust the drs so pray for wisdom for them. And obviously, pray for Emily...the transport, her eyes, that all the other issues she is dealing with will not flare up while this is going on, and that she will feel an extra sense of God's spirit...that she will never feel alone. A smaller but important prayer would be the location. I have family in Pasadena and could go stay with them while this is happening but if she goes to Long Beach, I won't be able to see her at all.
She went down on her vent today and so finally got back to pre-surgery levels...before this...

Our Baby Girl is ONE!!
We went with a Curious George theme since every morning, she finds her monkey and carries him by the tail as she walks around the house. The pics at the end of this post show what I am talking about.

This is the cake I made. I won't lie, I am pretty proud of it since I made it from scratch (including cutting out the shape) and it is my first attempt at a cake.

We had to blow the candle out so she could remove George...clearly he did not belong there.

She really didn't touch the cake, but man was that monkey fascinating!

Pics of the party...wish we had gotten more pics or at least a group one, but thank you all for coming and celebrating this time with us!!
