Well, we had a great time visiting my sister-in-law at the base in Pt Hueneme. The very first thing that happened was that my nephew Y lost his very first tooth! His mom and I were so excited and congratulating him (he was in the back of the van)...until we realized he was actually crying like crazy. It turned out his tooth was bumped out by a water bottle and a bump in the road so there was quite a lot of blood and this freaked him out. Poor guy! He was totally sad until he was reminded the tooth-fairy would come that night. :-)
This base is like Pleasantville! The streets are beautiful, the weather is perfect, there is a park every two blocks and the kids can play outside on their own all day long! It was like a breath of fresh air...or like being in the midwest right here in sunny CA. This is us on our way to the park.
The best part of having older cousins? They play with the little ones and I don't have to. Honestly, I used to think parks were the greatest thing since sliced bread. After two years of having to follow kids around the entire time we are there, now all I want is to be the mom that gets to sit on the bench while her kids play!
We also went to the beach...
This beach is great, nice and warm, but the water is quite cold!
Em is still pretty scared of the ocean (anything that makes loud noises and she can't really see scares her an awful lot), so she clung to Auntie Mo and I had the 'privilege' of taking the rest of the kids into the water. Sorry the pics are so shadowed, nothing you can do when the angle of the sun is that high and you have dark kids and pale kids in the same pic. :)
Running away from that giant wave!
Snack time.
Three oldest cousins.
These three were so funny...they took off down the beach and played on their own for a very long time. We have no idea what they were talking about but clearly it was fun.
I didn't get a high enough contrast for you to see what is going on but they are buried as mermaids (the sand makes the tail). K thought this was very funny.
Making fireworks...
Just a cuties pie shot as we headed for church.
And normal Emmy...she can't do anything without making a mess, much less eat!
Playing in the yard...
He's playing the guitar.
Dressing Em up...
N will turn four in a couple days so we had a mini celebration while we were there. Happy Birthday little man!
Watching Mom bring the cupcakes over...
My parents and we bought him a Buzz Lightyear and he could not have been happier. I'm not gonna lie, this is one cool toy! It does everything, just like the movie.
We had a great little visit and I am super glad they have moved close to us. It is the first time we will be within driving distance of one of my siblings. You won't see any pics of my brother as he is in Afghanistan so please pray for his safe return when you see pics of his sweet boys (and wife)! :) M had a good visit to MN too as he got to see lots of family (even though most the time was spent helping clean out Grandma and Grandpa's house).
God Bless!
