Prayers Please

Well, I was visiting Emily Grace when the doctors came in today and it turns out that things are not so good. Right now, they can't get Emily's acidosis under control. They have also decided that although some of it is caused by respiratory problems, most of it is due to her kidneys. They can't feed her because she is still having trouble with her intestines. The short story is that her lungs, kidneys and intestines are not working and she is getting a build up of junk in her blood. We need a lot of prayer for her to turn this around.

Please also pray for me as this latest turn is more overwhelming than anything before...if that is possible. In a very intense way I just don't want this to be my life anymore. I want to run away and hope it goes away or at least wake up and realize this was just one of those nightmares you have when you are pregnant. I want to trust God in all of this but right now I can't. Every time I pump, I have 40 minutes just to think and currently all that consumes my thoughts is just wondering if she is ever even going to drink this milk or if I am doing this every three hours just to lose in the end anyway. I know I can't think like that but I am losing the thought battle, please pray that all things good, pure, holy, etc consume my mind instead.

On a positive note, K slept through the night last night for the first time since all this happened...at least we can hope she is getting over the trauma. AND all my family is here and we had Thanksgiving last night. What an excellent meal and time together!! Praise God that He allowed for my family to be here at such a time as this.

T-day family visit

We saw EG yesterday and she remains stable. She lost a little weight (1 lb. 9 oz) because they spent the night adjusting her oxygen gases and the stress caused her to lose weight. Otherwise, she seems to be doing fine. At 1703 today she will be 27 weeks old GA (gestational age)! Each week is a gift and a milestone!

On another note, we have B's whole side of the family spending the next 5 days with us at our house. This was planned way before Emily Grace's arrival, but we are actually glad it has worked out this way-more hands to help out and more cousins for K to play with.

Megan with K. "Going on a trip."

We went to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, after visiting Emily Grace...8 of us piled into the Pilot headed out for a day. B came along, but we rented a wheelchair for her to sit in, while we walked around. (She got out of the wheelchair as much as she sat in it-does that surprise anyone?)

Megan and Audrey loved the fish.
Uncle Andy (Mitch) with Audrey.

K, our little water baby, loved being around water again.

Check out what this stingray does....
....It pops out of the water! Startled K, the first time.
At the end of the day, we went home and found B's brother and his family had arrived. For those of you that don't know, they adopted two adorable Ethiopian boys early this year. Nathaniel is on the far left and Yared is on the right. Yared and Megan are best buds.
Guess what we had for dinner?

11-17-09

She is now 720 grams or 1 lb. and 12 oz. Her heart stopped twice while I (M) was in with her nurse. The first time was for about a second and the second time (about 5 minutes later) was for about 3-4 seconds. It was pretty scary seeing the flatline happen in front of me, but according to the nurse, this is common amongst preemies and they aren't so concerned unless it is for longer than 20 seconds. I guess their heart can stop from something as little as burping, hiccuping or pooping.
