Geo-Cashing

We had one beautiful month of sunshine and cool temperatures...this is why we live up north, for spring and fall. These girls are beautiful and the best of friends. Ah, they warm my heart. K has decided she is an "adventure girl" and no longer complains about hikes and outdoor activities. Em just goes along to not be left behind. :-)

This is the trail less than a quarter mile from our house.  This side of it follows the power lines. You can't really tell, but it has quite the views.

Mt. Shasta is out of focus, but we were making a hat for K. She gave the hike a thumbs up for views and a thumbs down for all the hills.

Winter and the sunsets...the beam of sunlight this night was pretty neat, though the cameras weren't catching it well so I put M in it instead.

Just because...

Is she a crazy hippy? No one knows.  :-)

When the trees bloom, we will be in a green fest!

K all ready for Dr.Seuss Day at school. Yes, she drew that free hand. They have found a website, art hub for kids, and they walk you through step-by-step how to draw. You should see her Elsa and Pinkie Pie...the results are amazing!

We have finally started raining again and when that happens, our lives get cancelled. So, this weekend, we decided it was time to introduce the girls to geo-cashing! (Use GPS to find 'treasures' others have hidden, sign your name on a log and go find the next one). We used to do it when we lived up here before - back when you had to actually own a GPS. Now you can do it on your phone...there's an app for that.

The only downside this time of year is keeping away from poison oak.

This is the first treasure we found.

K was excited and loving the puddles.

On this one, all we found were some pretty cool Manzanita trees (Em decided they look like licorice) and some awesome rocks I can use in science class on Monday.

K found the second treasure.

And the third...it was raining and they were still having fun. Good sign.

Well, in our lives, we are back to IEP meetings and attempts to get compliance with the original document, new glasses, finally finished solar (of course, now that it is to rain for two weeks), and keeping up with the rest of life.

Do you remember that old song - Unanswered Prayers? Well, I had a meeting with K's teacher this week and she mentioned that K is "every teacher's dream". She likes to learn and learns very quickly. This statement made me laugh (as I am homeschooling her again next year) and I couldn't help but remember my prayers from so long ago..I asked God for two average kids - so I didn't have to struggle with any extremes. But He didn't even give me one. He gave me a miracle and a dream. I guess He knew best what would really challenge me and make my heart glad all at the same time!

Have a wonderful day! God Bless!
