July

I realize it has been too long! As usual, life is kind of crazy but fun...summer as I recall from years past. K has finished her first camp - rock climbing camp. They spent their time on walls and not out in nature but seeing as it is over one hundred degrees here every day, there is a remote possibility that this is a better idea. :-)

She really is a good climber.

In completely random weather, we got a couple of days of rain - real rain - in JULY!  It was crazy! Soooooo nice though, as it finally cooled things off for a while.

K started having nightmares so I decided to do a mini-lesson on the brain and thoughts and emotions and, well, I have now experienced "summer brain".  Boy, they could NOT concentrate.  I am not sure they learned anything...

...but at least the playdoh was useful.

Which prompted them to make a cake out of leaves, rocks and flower...at least that is the list of ingredients K proposed to me. When I went out to see what they had made, I discovered she had meant real flour...a slight mess and a quick lesson on spelling.

We celebrated Nana's 39th birthday with a bear theme. The girls decorated the mirrors and even made the trees on the side.

We had bears' paws cinnamon rolls and ate breakfast together.

Then we went on a honeycomb hunt to find Nana's presents.

This week we decided it was time to take the girls down the river in the kayak.  For the record, M and I have never gone down the river without arguing over the direction of the boat...K thought this was hilarious and Em cried her way down every part of the river with any rapids at all.  It was a great success!  :-)

Our friends have finally arrived!

We decided to escape from the heat with a trip to Turtle Bay. Having a snack and I realized this is the only picture I have of K's first lost tooth!  She lost it while M and I were gone and swallowed it with her spaghetti.

They have a huge puzzle exhibit right now. This is right up Em's alley!!  She is very good at puzzles and loves to do them.

One of the puzzles was a conveyor belt and a timer...we worked very hard as a team to beat this one!

Well, on the ranch side of things, we are full up again and this is good! We are healthy and happy and glad to have friends right in our own house.  Much progress is being made on the remodel of the downstairs for my parents and we may even have the final inspection this week!
