Yipee! Time for the pumpkin patch with the group from the Braille Institute. No, J's kids don't qualify, but I invited her to come with me cause the patch is about five minutes from her house and I knew she'd be in for some fun. This is her little boy, A.
Em petting the goats with her teacher from the Braille Institute...I know it's not a great pic, but it was a very large group so she was only with us for a little while.
Hmmm, what's this?
Oh, I just saw the girl in the background. I didn't intentionally take any pics of the kids we met but she was the other micro-preemie in the group. She was a 26 weeker and she just turned four. She is tiny! She is only K's size but her mom was very excited because she got her g-tube out last month.
We met several moms and kids this day and although normally I hate these things, it was very nice. I guess it's just nice to meet other people who have 'been there and done that'...not so much because you can talk about it, but because you don't have to talk about it. You all just know, so words aren't necessary. No words and yet an overabundance of comfort and understanding. When this first happened with Emily, people would send me emails of people I could talk to, but I wanted nothing to do with it. I didn't want to talk. Now I find myself craving those conversations and I no longer have those emails...ironic, sad.
Anyway, on to new adventures with the girls...over there? Yes!
Trying to find the rabbit in the hill.
Ah, my girls. K started out as such a sissy about everything, I was honestly a little worried. Now she is running all over with all the animals, giving them hugs and generally allowing herself to get dirty and gross. I am so proud of her overcoming her fears! I have to remind her quite often and sacrifice a few shirts here and there just to make my point, but she is strong enough to trust me and try it all anyway.
I just...love her!! It is strange for someone like me, but words elude me when I think of K. A giant smile comes to my face and admiration and pride well up in my heart and I have a massive urge to hug and kiss her. She is so precious to me and I cherish every morning that she gets up and cuddles with me on the couch. I think I may die the day that ends!
See? Hugs! She is really, really gentle with animals and it amazes me! Sammy (our dog) even comes up to her now to get her to pet him...until Em shows up, then he runs like mad the other way! :)
K saw another kid posing in front of the pumpkin like this so she had to try. :)
And now it is in the wheel barrel and off to see the pumpkins...
A little jealous of the tractor ride...
And a snack for the road.
I hope your fall is as beautiful as ours has been! God Bless!!
