Ahhhh!!! That is me taking one giant breath, releasing it and freeing my spirit to fly! We are back in Redding...that means trees, trees and more trees, wide open spaces, views and log burning fires. Since it is spring, the first order of business is to clear the land again and create the backyard on our property.
Ok, so she didn't really drive, but it sure was fun to pretend!
I realize her face is blurry but this is the first time I have caught Em's "I am SO cool!" face so I had to throw it in here. She gives me this face all the time and it makes me laugh every time!
Poppy made a chair out of one of the stumps from the row of trees they had to cut down to create a fire barrier around the house.
The girls helping me dig out the soil from the old garden...
...and move it to the new garden location.
We are taking plenty of breaks from the work to go for hikes.
This is how Em walks when she is on uneven ground that is new to her.
Ever alert, Sammy is the best guard dog in the world. It is pretty annoying in socal but up here, I find it quite reassuring!
As you can see, the trees have not gotten their leaves yet, but everything else is already starting to turn green, making the trails around our house lovely to walk along.
In sad news, Toby, my parent's dog shown in the picture below died two days after this hike. We don't know what he ate, but he started throwing up on this hike and never stopped. One morning when we went to check on him, he was dead. The guys buried him on our land while we took the girls to visit GiGi (Great-grandma). It put quite a damper on the vacation but thankfully the girls don't really understand it so we don't have to deal with their drama too.
Having a snack around a fire pit made of slate, they are sitting on seats made of slate as well. I thought it was quite creative and unique!
On the way back, the girls found some sticks and decided they were going to be Buck (from Ice Age Dawn of the Dinosaurs) and they were fighting off all the dinosaurs for us while we hiked.
Have a great day!! God Bless!!

Last Up
Well, this should do it for Escondido...finally! :-) We spent our stay at the Welk's Resort, where we went for lots of walks...
...fed the ducks in the morning...
...learned a little more about Lawrence Welk...
...and danced to the music at the 'festival of lights'.
We even got to celebrate April's birthday with her!
Now, I know my kids are small, really small, but he is seven months old...seven months.
Thanks for hanging with us guys!!
Heard they went back to a couple of blizzards so it must have been quite a shock. I can honestly say that I have never spent one moment of my post MN/ND life missing snow or cold...real cold people, real cold. Don't get me wrong, I love telling stories about going for runs and having our eyelids freeze shut but the fact that they happened over ten years ago, that's the best part of the story! :-) God Bless!
