What a LONG few days we have had...but to explain, let's start a couple of weeks ago. Ever since we switched Em to formula, she has not been eating well. We have not found a combination she likes and her food consumption has gone down. When she started teething, it dropped further yet and Monday and Tuesday, she barely ate anything. She was borderline dehydrated. I knew they were going to try to admit her back in to the hospital so I asked for a gavage tube as a temporary solution until she is done teething...
...the problems started when I took her in to LL to get the tube. They wanted to admit her for a few days 'just to observe her'. They always want to admit her and they make it seem like I should too...yes, it's a break from the stress, but it is not best for my kid, so I don't really understand. Anyway, K and Em and I spent five hours at the hospital - me convincing them that they did not need to admit her and since she did not have a fever, they did not need blood work yet - blah, blah, all this just to get a gavage tube put in and x-rayed to make sure it is in the right place (something they can do with a syringe).
Anyway, on top of all this, I am sick. I got sick on Monday and by yesterday, I was bad enough that I went in to make sure I did not have strep...I do not. But I am a little worried that I will give Em what I have and she will end up in the hospital anyway. I have been wearing masks and washing my hands all the time, so that is in God's hands now and I am trying to leave it there.
The long ending is that after a night of getting up every four hours to fill Em's stomach, she woke up with her first wet diaper in two days. It soaked all the way through! Yipee! I haven't EVER been glad to change her sheets. She played a little this morning but is already back in bed taking a nap. Her energy needs to return today or we have to take her in to do blood work to check for an infection.
All of that and K is hilarious and killing me with just being her! Since Em and I were at the drs all day Tuesday, she had a day with Dad...the first time I came home, this was how she was dressed and she looked at me and demanded we "dass!!" (dance). So, K wearing a bib, with necklace and princess slippers, was holding "bah" and dancing in circles. I snapped a couple pics before she got mad and made me put the camera away so we could properly dance.
That night, after I fed Em and put her to bed, she was dressed like this...
Dad keeps claiming it is "all her doing" but I am not totally convinced. :) The monkey onesie is Emily's but she has been jealous of it since Em got it and asks to put it on every time it comes through the wash. Dad gave in.
K was AMAZING at the hospital yesterday. She played and stayed in the stroller and didn't throw a single tantrum the entire time. She was pleasant and talking to everyone. I was SO proud of her!! I am super glad we had her first! She keeps the humor and fun in life!!

My parents were here this week so we have some pics of them just hanging out with the girls.
It never fails...every time my parents visit, one of my kids is teething. We think Em is about to pop her first tooth through. She is crabby and has a massive gum line, but K used to do this and then the teeth would go back down, so we shall see. BUT, at least for the first time, she actually liked the baby biscuits and kept it in her mouth.
Watching 'dee dee cas' (helicopters) crash on the internet. Why this is funny only those two know.
Watching Bob the Builder...K's new crush.
Em loves to play with the girl in the mirror and I obviously get a kick out of it since I keep taking pics of it. :)
This is just to show you how she is standing and transferring...she is reaching for the slide behind her. Her balance is getting much better but she's got a ways to go before she is walking. I was also told at her last evaluation this week that I should not encourage walking since she needs to crawl for as long as possible...coordination and reading issues later on. Yeah...I get it, but if my preemie wants to walk, I am going to let her walk. Sorry. With everything I have been told about the troubles she will have with walking, if she wants to do it (correctly) on her own, the last thing I am going to do is discourage her.
This cutie got some new doll toys and thought they were for her. This is a crib. :)
And this is a lion that unfolds to a pillow that was also a gift for Em that has been somehow taken over by 'the big one' as we call her. Don't worry, they are going to share everything (except blankies) anyway.
