Christmas Photos

We decided it was time to take family pictures for our Christmas card. SO, with all the backgrounds we could possibly want, it didn't take long. We have had a week of rain and though it is dark and overcast today, there is no rain. Yipee! :-) As most of you are aware, we are in a severe drought so we are glad for the rain as the dam has come up five and a half feet from this last week of rain. We need a whole lot more but at least this is a start!

Yes, that is our barn.

Well, life for us has certainly changed in the last few months...let's see...

We used to know the price of admission to all the amusement parks, now we know the price of all the different three twine bales of hay.
We used to go to Sea World and ride rides, now we go to our backyard and ride horses.
We used to work out with weights and jogging, now we lift dirt, gravel, and rubber mats and move it around our hilly land.
We used to care for a manicured lawn, now we chop wood and shovel manure.
We used to know one or two of our neighbors, now we know them all.
We used to watch TV at night, now if we sit down to watch, we fall asleep.
We used to look for projects to do, now we just decide which one to tackle.
I used to worry about my babies. Now I worry about horses.
I used to stay inside in the rain, now I willingly wait for Santa in the rain.

Oh, that reminds me. I forgot these pictures from this week, when we literally waited in the rain to talk to Santa.  Sometimes, when it rains too many days in a row, the girls get silly.  On this day, I would declare a random season and ask them to dress for it.  They had fun and got a little silly.  I am so glad they have each other!  They literally play all day long together and they are so close in age, they are always interested in the same things.

We met my mom out in Old Shasta for a tree lighting and Santa appearance...it was raining lightly when we got there so we decided it was fine to stay.

They had cute little shops and fund-raising stations inside the old school.

We also got to eat, and try on Papa's hat.

By the time Santa came, it was pouring down rain, pouring.  They didn't complain once and waited patiently, all for a candy cane, which they were thrilled to have.  :-)

We got two inches of rain that night so I had to buzz home to shore up some flooding of the lower barn.  On the way home, the local turkey vultures were all over, wings spread.  It looked eerily neat.

Well, I have to go get a pizza for us.  Some things haven't changed.  :-)  Have a wonderful day and God Bless!!
