We have prayed for water and water God has given! We have had quite a lot of rain this "winter" (really it is rainy season) and boy did we need it! This last storm left us with water running everywhere. Our little 'creek' usually only runs right after a rain and is typically less than a foot wide.
Our drainage system could not keep up, and this was after the city fixed the culverts down stream from us.
I know this is blurry, but Emily jumping a 'river'...need I say more? Her IEP went really well, for those who were praying for us. We managed to get weekly OT back for her as well as an ipad for magnification purposes ('assistive technology') and all of her books for next year will be enlarged before the year even starts. This is quite impressive as we called the meeting because they wanted to eliminate OT all together and we still had not received our technology for this year, much less next year. How did we do it, you may ask? Well, we didn't, God did. But He told us to do it the way our parents taught us when we were little - kill them with kindness. Rather than being demanding or acting like jerks, we told them part of Emily's story...just the eyes part. We explained her prognosis and where they were taking her by removing her assistance. By the time we were done, they were volunteering whatever they could to help. :-) God is good. It's funny. I watch God do this all the time - giving her favor from those in authority over her. Everything He took away from her at her birth, He continues to repay in lavishing favor on her. It only took a moment for it to be taken away but I am convinced that He plans to spend her lifetime giving even more back.
Micah went for a hike and found some pretty neat stuff...
There are several real roads washed out as well.
Whenever there is moss found on trees around here, it is a good sign.
So this is Whiskeytown Lake and the glory hole. It is made for overflow, and well, that is what it is doing.
And this is Lake Shasta. For the untrained eye, this might not look incredible, but HOLY SMOKES!!! Can you believe that they are concerned that the lake will overflow and they will have to open the spillway potentially causing floods downstream?
Here, I will help you with perspective - this is the lake last November - the difference in water level of these two pictures is 140 FEET of height...much less how much it spread out as it rose.
Looking down the spillway to the river.
At one point, the rain was coming down so hard, we were setting up blockades to keep it away from the house. I will take pictures soon, but we are green, green, green!
K has recently gotten into legos - she spent her birthday money on the frozen castle.
And. of course, we are still doing our science. Well, I teach, but I run every lesson plan through K. Here we are looking for fossils. This part did not go as I had planned. It was scratched for the class.
She is quite proud!
We took a field trip to the fire house with some of the kids from Em's school.
Well, we are in crazy mode. Any time there is a change of seasons, there is a lot to do on the ranch, and this just adds to the rest of life. This morning I was grateful to God as sat quietly before the girls were up and watched the moon set behind our mountain. This place is good. And yet it only faintly reflects the goodness of our God. Have a wonderful day and God Bless!!
