No More Cast! Catching up...

Last weekend was a busy one! Before B even had his birthday, we had a nice visit from some friends we haven't seen in a very long time! Clark's are old friends who went to college with my brother and sister. And these are their kids...once again failure to take a pic of the adults, sorry Beth! Anyway, this game the two oldest made up was one where K would sit in the swing and start it swinging and then E would jump up on the garden soil, waiting for it to return.

In a perfectly timed jump, he would leap onto the bar at the same moment his feet would get swept out from under him. And off they would go into swinging bliss. Gotta give the boy credit, he's got great timing!

Aww, little peewee.

We also drove down to Nana and Poppy's place to see them on Mother's Day.

Okay, my real girls...and, well, the real me.  :-)

Em thought we were still making faces.  :0

Oh, showing off their new toys...Em calls them "googooly eyes"...probably because she is blind when she wears them (no glasses).  Don't worry, I only panic slightly the entire time she is in there without her glasses on.  Truth: she's not allowed to swim without glasses unless Mom is in the pool too.  The pool, by the way, is super warm already and I am in love with it!  Not too deep so I worry, not too big to care for, warm enough to enjoy.  The girls are in it every moment I allow.

Well, to the big news...the cast is OFF!!!  The appointment yesterday was to decide if she needed to wear a small cast for two more weeks or if she was all right.  The doctor told M it was 90% healed so she didn't need a cast but to watch out for her for the next couple of weeks so she doesn't fall on it.

M asked for a cast.  The dr said no.  M came home and told me this same news.  I asked if he begged for a cast.  He said he did but the doctor stood his ground.  Watch Emily?  I'll watch her kill herself and now I get to worry about it?  Well, I am going to try not to but this is Em...running everywhere with no depth perception.  How do you think she got her black tooth?  Ah!

Anyway, she had little scab-like marks on her arm from the cast so she was convinced it was still hurt.  She kept craddling it in front of her and not using it.  K tried band-aids, but she hates those so they were off after ten minutes and then she took a fitful nap.  When she got up, she told me Sammy could "wick it and make it awl betta".  So I put peanut butter on her arm...

It seemed to work for a little while but it wasn't until I reminded her that she could go in the pool and we didn't have to put a plastic bag over her arm that she perked up.  She was in the water lickity-split.  But she still held her arm over her head until I reminded her to put it in the water.  It was so funny to watch her!  It was like she was touching hot water, not sure of the temperature.  She tapped it, submerged it, submerged it for a little longer, then submerged it and started swishing it around in the water.  She was so excited, she screamed.  And then she was hyper for the next hour.  It was kind of out of control, but I am getting used to her 'unfocused energy'.  :-)  Anyway, after that, all was good.  We even facetimed Daddy to show him we could do a push-up.  (She hasn't bent her elbow in four weeks).  Getting rid of the stench alone makes me happy, but not having to bag her up every time we go in the pool or take a bath or shower, that's worth its weight in gold!

She is showing you her arms.  Amazingly, I can't see a difference in the two.  I thought her bad arm would be smaller but the only difference is that it is less tanned.

Of course we had to have a tea party...all things are made better by tea parties.

I thought that was it but I forgot about this...I was doing the dishes and Em wanted to cuddle.  I told her I couldn't so she went off pouting - I love her but she is still three.  Anyway, then I heard K say, "Aw, it's okay Em. You want me to cuddle with you?"  Em must have nodded and the next thing I see in the living room is the two of them under a blanket, K reading Curious George to Em. So adorable!  I may have washed a lot more dishes than I needed to so it wouldn't end.

Well, God Bless!!  Thanks for your prayers for Em's arm, they clearly worked!  Now, if anyone has any ideas for how to keep a three year old in bed when they have suddenly decided to get up whenever they feel like it, do share!
