It's so hard when you wait this long between going through your pictures! If I get much more than a week, I just keep putting it off because I know it has turned into a big job I just don't want to tackle. :-) Anyway, I tackled it tonight...this is a close up the pic below, just cause I can.
Nana E made the girls some dresses and when we went down this weekend to visit, she finished them up. The girls are thrilled and had worn them non-stop, well, until Mom hid them in the laundry. :-)
We also jumped over to the Science Museum for a few hours. The new theme is Legos.
Oh, and Da Vinci...
K wanted you to see what she had built, before she lost interest.
Yep, Round 2...as you can see another fire started behind our house. This one is much further away...the brown hills in front are the ones that burned in the first fire. This was right when it started. I just looked at M and pointed out the window while we both mentally counted the number of hills between us and it before taking a deep breath.
It went quickly, but there aren't any houses in those hills so even though it ate 1500 acres in just over a day, I don't even think this made the news.
It climbed all the way up that hill and then the next few behind it (away from us). I know it's not much to look at in a pic but we find it fascinating to watch. We had guests over for a BBQ and you would be amazed how interesting it is to watch it change. The pic below shows the flames.
Anyway, I digress...our garden, on the other hand, has been doing stupendous! The girls and I go outside and eat handfuls of peas every single day. Sadly, now they do not like store bought peas, but a little butter solves that. K is standing next to our corn and the peas are behind her. She is about 40 inches tall, so they are doing better than we thought.
Sadly, I think we will lose the peas soon...the roots are turning yellow, a sign of root rot, a common problem with vine plants. It's all right though, we have seriously had so many peas, I feel like we have gotten a season's worth already. I know I have gotten a season's worth of spiritual knowledge from it!! I know why Jesus used plants to explain things! Amazing! You can see all the pods behind K's head on the left, and that's just one plant - we have a whole row of them. Anyhow, I just hope we don't lose the corn because of the root rot too.
She wanted to show off the center of the corn. I think that's called a tassel but I am not sure.
We also had J's third birthday party, which really means a kicking pool party.
There's the birthday boy with his cousin.
Showing off his mad jumping skills.
With Papa...
The horrors of chocolate in the summer. She was only pretending to be mad...she was happy to lick it off!
That makes almost everyone three. Yipee! I really like kids once they can tell me what they want...that's all I need in kids. :-)
Well,l I think that catches us up. We are all doing well, although trying to transition from school and bible study and dance and whatever all else we had going on to - well, nothing. Why does it ALL quit suddenly in one week? Oh well, I know I used to love the end of everything, but now, all I think is, "Well, my life hasn't changed one bit, except suddenly there is no where to go." I actually have to make dates to see people and since everyone else's older kids are now home, they are significantly busier and we have to plan for loads of extra kids. I know, such is life. And yes, we can adjust to anything, but it's the transition that is the hardest. Thankfully, God has timed it with a period when the girls are playing really well together and will actually wander off for long periods of time without needing my intervention. This leaves me with some time to start some of the projects I have around the house. I am even making little practice quilts to see if I like doing it. The pool also helps...they can play in there forever!
We are still trying to make lots of important decisions for Emily before next school year starts so any prayers for that would be greatly appreciated.
Have a great day! God Bless!
