Life

Brothers and Cousins

Buddies take a break after a lovely swim

Mommy and me

This quilt was made by my sister-in-law for Emily as it is designed for the seeing impaired. Each square is a different texture and the colors are the three (black, white and red) Em can still likely see without her glasses...makes me want to redo the nursery in ladybug theme but that will have to wait. :) The best part? I pull it out for tummy time and K dives onto it and pets the soft squares...while helping Em of course!

Six Months

Em has been here for six months! I don't want to say much but I will say these have been the longest, hardest six months of my life. I have learned a lot about myself and others...some good, some bad. This journey is less like a steep uphill and more like a vertical ladder with wide steps and I think I must have a heavy backpack on. Nearly everything I have been asked to do is against my nature. And yet half a year later, here we stand. Emily is victorious. God is great and God is good...He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion. God is the hot air balloon attached to my backpack...always carrying the load for me even if I can't see him.

Living Desert

We went to the zoo out in Palm Desert...it was a ton of fun, although a bit on the hot side! The theme on this side of the zoo was Africa...it was surprisingly accurate, at least for M...I lived in a rain forest.

Don't worry all you worry-warts, Em loved it too...she was the only one not sweaty and hot...she is very cold normally. Our house sits at 75 right now (for her)and if she doesn't have a blanket on, she gets the hiccups. K has rosy red cheeks and Em is as happy as a clam...cool and comfy cozy.

Fun tid bits about K:

Her first molar popped through today and she's working on at least one more.

She calls Emily "Em-i-da", if she gets it all out, otherwise she stops at Em.

Sammy (our dog) is "Me-Me".

We are teaching her to sleep on her toddler bed and last night at 1am all I hear is "uh-oh" (repeatedly) from the living room...she is sitting in her chair waiting for me to come get her and put her back to bed.

Her favorite phrase is 'where'd it go?' said not quite that clearly but intelligibly enough...anyway, this week during her bath, she started taking toys and putting them behind her back, then she'd look up at me and ask 'where'd it go?'. When I said 'I don't know, where did it go?', she pulled it out and said 'right here'. Now we play this game hiding the toys under her legs and anywhere else she can think of.

What a cutie pie! As insane as she makes me when she gets super stubborn, she is still the one giving me joy and LOTS of laughs through this time in our lives.

Guess We Need More Prayers

Emily is not gaining the weight she needs to at this point (only 10 grams/day this week - supposed to be 20 - 30). She is eating about 25% more than a normal baby her size plus all the fat and proteins we are adding, but she is not gaining the weight. Something is wrong and I don't know what the next step is, but trust me, I always have the fear that they are going to take her back away from me. Please pray God will heal her system so that she can absorb everything from the food she is eating.
