Why, hello! I have officially uploaded this post three times, gotten distracted (I know that is hard to believe) and failed to post it. So, this time I plan to finish. We are doing well up here in the north. It has been a super warm few weeks and though we have loved it, it is time for more rain. We began to pray for rain again and it came today. I should have thought about the timing, however, as I am about to run out of hay and, well, no one delivers in the rain. Should be fun!
The girls are doing fantastic! We are still on our dragon kick here...K wanted me to show you her sharing her water with her dragons. She really does tell me to "take a picture of that" these days. She will say, "Mom, isn't that cute? You should take a picture of it!" :-)
I know we have been talking about it forever and no changes, but it looks like we might finally start the remodel to get my parents moved in here. We got the permit to redo the septic system and it was completed this week. That was the final requirement before they are supposed to hand us our permit for the downstairs. We can only hope! Dealing with this county though...it's the pits!!
It still thrills me and cracks me up when I find the girls like this. K loves to read to Em and yes, Em still sucks her thumb. She literally only does it when she holds her "night-night", so you know he is banned to the bed, but she sneaks it sometimes...afterall, "Mom, I'm on the bed!" :-)
K is so excited to be six. Something happened when that number hit her head too. She is acting SO old. We let her read at night now. I first tried to push their bed time back but Em was getting too tired and wanted to take naps, so we went back to the old bedtime and K gets to read for at least half an hour each night. I love the area above her bed as it shows her so well - still a princess who loves horses, she has rounded herself off with dragons.
We took the girls to see the showing of Aladdin by one of the local schools. Performing arts are a big deal up here. When I taught, our music program's performing arts and musical groups were always tops in the state and it is my understanding that they still are. Anyway, I digress; out front they had a stuffed Raja.
Nana bought them little Abus.
We were up in the balcony...it was a little hard on Emily but since we couldn't get close seats, it was a better view than the back of people's heads.
Did I mention that this was a junior high play? Yes, these were all junior highers.
The girl in the brown is from our church and the main reason we decided to go.
All the girls wanted to know was if they were allowed to ride the carpet.
They did a fantastic job!
Iago did really well, she and the genie stole the show.
They waited in line to get autographs...which later K wrote over "because she couldn't read them".
The genie was a girl in this version.
We had a lot of fun and I am glad this is their first exposure to the whole story. Em kept telling me she wasn't even scared of the bad guy so now we can watch the movie on TV.
As far as the rest of life, we have hit the point in school where Emily cries all the way to the school and in the door. She has decided she would rather stay with K and I. Pray she will adjust. She is the extrovert so I hope it won't be long. K continues to progress well in school. With Em gone two mornings a week, we get a chance to do school by ourselves and we are both enjoying ourselves so much more. I never realized that I would not allow K to do some of the activities because I did not want to try to figure out how to get Em to do it (she always wants to do everything K is doing) and now that I don't have to do that, we are doing more.
The business is going pretty well. I have been praying for more horses and now we are almost full up again. I feel like I have learned so much in the last five months that it is out of control. I have a good grasp on the basics of hay and stalls and horse care overall. It is interesting, though at this point, I would not want to own one. I don't think I will have a choice in the future but, hey, at least we will go in 'eye wide open.' Pray for us as we make some changes that may increase our volume but are risky and may not work. We are trusting God to lead us and hope we are listening without putting our own twist on things.
With all the work we do around here, we are just grateful for health and I pray daily for our protection. M has vacation this month and we are hoping to get several projects done. Let's see, we started working out for the first time since we moved and that's all she wrote. I have several journal writings I can't wait to share with you soon! God Bless!!
