My Song

So I was listening to KLOVE tonight and I thought, "These songs are just not complicated.  They are so simple, that is why they hit my heart, make me cry and make me praise God.  I bet I could write a song."  The last sentence caught me by surprise, so much so that I sat down and tried.  Since I don't do anything remotely close to music, I want to post this as fast as I can before I chicken out and convince myself it's as ridiculous as me thinking I can write it.  :-)

Baby girl
Came too soon
Frail and weak
No words but death
spoken to my ears
But, you, My God,
had yet to weigh in.

Baby girl
Heart stops beating
Forget to breathe
Your own Momma's touch
causing you pain.

Only in God
Only in Christ's hands
may you rest
Only in God's Spirit
can you find relief.

Surgeries, Infections
Last ditch efforts
Transfusions, Medications
Your own Momma watches
as new pain grips your tiny body.

Only in God
Only in Christ's hands
can she rest
Only in God's Spirit
does she find relief

Baby girl
Three years old
Rambunctious and destructive
No words, just laughing
fill my ears
No words but praise
exit my lips.

My God weighed in
Praise God, my powerful Redeemer
weighed in
His weight, as it turns out,
is the only weight left standing
Standing
Next to my baby girl.

God Bless!!
