Chichen-Itza

On our way to Chichen-Itza...one of the seven wonders of the world...K just wonders why we are going there since it must be the hottest place on earth!! Poor girl inherited my family's red face. :)

This was easily the coolest thing we saw while there.

On the left is the temple of tables.

The obligatory attempt to get the three of us in a photo...

...except no one seemed to be able to use a camera. :(

The ball court. Actually, I thought this was pretty cool...it was so big, it was easy to picture a huge gathering of people watching one intense game!

The royal seating. Notice the carving...everything was carved...from the columns of buildings to all the walls of every building. This place must have been AMAZING in its hay day!

One of the rings on the side walls that the players had to pass the ball through.

The back side of Chichen Itza isn't as well preserved but shows excavation quite well.

The cenote (sink hole) where the virgins were sacrificed to the gods.

Example of carved columns.

Gotta love the jaguars everywhere.

Did I mention it was hot? Look at those little cheeks.

And now some pics of us once the little girl woke up and we just chilled in the shade.
